BAYWATCH, British-style, comes to Teesside tomorrow.
But Pamela Anderson and hunks in trunks will be conspicuous by their absence from talks to discuss beach lifeguards. Redcar is hosting the first meeting of the National Beach Safety Council, made up of Britain's coastal councils.
Paul Castle, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's foreshore manager, said: "This is a great opportunity for us to learn new ideas, and enable us to upgrade our lifeguard service to a level with the best in the UK."
Safety council chairman Tony Jones, chief lifeguard for Wirral Borough Council, said: "The meeting offers local government officers an opportunity to meet formally and discuss beach rescue and lifeguard-related issues.''
