The Tees and Hartlepool Port Authority has a new gate house/control room at its container terminal at Tees Dock, thanks to Portakabin.
The port authority turned to the modular buildings provider because they required minimal disruption to the day-to-day running of the operation.
The authority handles more than 51 million tonnes of cargo per year, nine per cent of total UK port traffic.
The contract with Portakabin involved the supply of a Titan building, the largest one-piece self-contained building in Europe with an internal floor are of 68sqm.
Gary Hill, Portakabin's area sales manager, said: "The port authority required a large, cost-effective and low-maintenance building, that could be delivered ready for immediate use.
"We identified the Titan building as the ideal solution to their business requirements and provided bespoke internal fittings according to the customers needs."
The building was also fitted with air-conditioning and tinted glazing to reduce solar glare, optimising energy efficiency and comfort.
Bernard Meynell, Tees and Hartlepool project manager, said: "Portakabin installed a building that was outstanding in terms of build quality that accounted for all our design specifications.
"The building is now operational and meeting the requirements of a modern container terminal."
