WOMEN who rushed to the aid of two youths after they were attacked are thought to hold vital details about the incident.
The attack happened at around 4.30pm last Thursday, when the two 17-year-olds were walking home from college in Barsby Green, Berwick Hills, Middlesbrough.
They were attacked by two men and received head injuries, with one being knocked unconscious. The youths received hospital treatment.
Immediately after the attack, several female passers-by came to the aid of the pair. Police believe they can provide crucial information for their inquiry.
PC Ian Lambert, of Cleveland police, said: "This was a totally unprovoked attack."

One of the attackers is described as about 18, 5ft 11in, of larger than average build, with short dark hair. His accomplice seemed to be of a smaller build
