A COUNTY Durham club for children has been boosted by a £200 grant for the cold months.
The Rainbow Fun Club, in Trimdon Colliery, has received the "hibernation" grant boon from the Nescafe Kids Club Challenge.
This partnership between Nescafe and the Kids Club Network aims to award a grant to a kids club in the country every day until the end of 2001.
The club was among 108 chosen in the latest round of grants. Anne Longfield, Kids Club Network chief executive, said: "During the winter months children spend the majority of time indoors at the after-school clubs.
"It means play workers are constantly on the lookout for new ways to keep them motivated.
"With the hibernation grants, organisers will be able to splash out on exciting new ways to keep the kids interested."
