A visitor centre is rapidly taking shape as part of a £32m scheme to restore Ward Jackson Park, in Hartlepool, to its former glory.
The centre, which features a conical roof and domed ceiling, will house a range of facilities, including a cafe and exhibition area, and allow direct access to an improved children's play area.
Construction work, which began last year, is expected to be completed by the end of June, and the centre should open in July.
The park restoration scheme, which is being financed through the Heritage Lottery Fund and Hartlepool Urban Greening Initiative, is entering its final phase.
A contract to carry out minor work, such as shrub planting, reinstatement of fences and installation of more park benches, litter bins and dog dirt bins, will soon be under way and should be completed by April.
The Mayor of Hartlepool, Councillor Frank Rogers, said: "Ward Jackson Park is a real jewel in Hartlepool's crown."
