CARLIN How created a MacMillan Bowl scoring record with a 17-1 win over luckless Mackinlay Park who switched the tie because their ground was unfit.

In the semi-finals, Carlin How will now meet the winners of the Thornaby-Hollybush United game. Their match was postponed.

Mackinlay Park must already be heartily fed up with Carlin How winning 7-3 and seven minutes into tie must have realised trouble was in when Kevin Solomon scored.

Nine minutes later Kevin Solomon crossed for brother Graham to head a second which seemed to deflate Mackinlay Park and a minute later Jason Couse made it 3-0. Martin Say then made it 4-0 in the 32nd minute, Steve Starsmore adding a fifth three minutes later and the sixth arrived from Kevin Solomon in the 37th minute.

Steve Hampton adding a seventh in the 39th minute and Matthew Jones then made it 8-0 two minutes before half time.

It got worse for the visitors in the second half as Solomon scored his hat-trick goal from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute. Mackinlay Park pulled a goal back through Bob Skippon but Carlin How were soon back in scoring mood. Steve Hampton brought up double figures in the 58th minute.

Matthew Jones added the 11th in the 63rd minute with Hampton scoring his hat-trick goal in the 65th minute to make it 12 -1. Hampton was spot on with a penalty after 66 minutes and Starsmore scored his second of the game in the 70th minute. Hampton made it 15-1 in the 82nd minute, Kevin Solomon then clinched his fourth of the match and 11th of the season with Matthew Jones scoring the final and his hat-trick goal in the 84th minute.

In a hard-fought match on a heavy pitch, Richmond Town suffered a 2-0 defeat at holders Grangetown BC.

The tie looked to be going into the half time break goalless but with two minutes left a good build up by the Boys Club resulted in Ian Webster giving his side the lead.

In the second half, the visitors pressed forward but were unable to break down the Boys' Club defence and with the game going into the last minute an own goal by Gavin Rodgerson gave the holders a place in the semi-final.

But they too will have to wait for two weeks as the BEADS and Cargo Fleet match was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Bedale Athletic fell to a surprise 2-0 home league defeat against Wolviston Reserves who have take their cup form into the league following their 4-1 midweek win over Guisborough Town Reserves.

Wolviston Reserves took the lead after 18 minutes when a poor back pass by Steven Anderson was latched on to by in-form Andrew Dyson, midweek hat-trick hero, who gave Wolviston the lead with his seventh of the season.

In the second half Wolviston got of to a great start, but again it was due to a poor back pass, this time by the usually reliable Ian Gill, whose gaff allowed Andrew Clark, another one of the midweek marksman, to score a minute into the second half.

The home side pressed but Wolviston, playing with a sky-high confidence, were well worth the points.

Home side Nunthorpe Athletic and New Marske shared the points in a 2-2 draw.

The visitors who took the lead through Darren Mitchell after 22 minutes. The home side were thwarted by New Marske man of the match and keeper Steven Boddy who pulled of some great saves to deny the home side in the first half.

Three minutes into the second half Ben Walker who, like Miller, was making a rare appearance, made it 2-0. But the home side fought back and in the 50th minute pulled it back to 2-1 through Scott Robson. Again the home side battled back and were finally rewarded in the last five minutes when Ray Woodhouse scored his first for Nunthorpe to rescue a point.

This was a poor result for Nunthorpe who trailed leaders Acklam by ten points, but with only two games in hand, with a final day's meeting for the two clubs in May.

The games between Fishburn Park and Acklam SW, Stokesley SC and Whitby Town Reserves along with Thornaby YC against Guisborough Town Reserves were all postponed.

D and E Locksmiths drew 2-2 with Potters Bar and produced a cracker of a game despite poor underfoot conditions. Both goalkeepers, Nicky Smales for D and E and Michael Rice for Potters Bar, pulled off some great saves but found the ball difficult to hold on to. Potters Bar took the lead when Phil Hunter followed up to tap in when Smales could only parry over the bar then Steven Loughran did exactly the same when Rice spilled the ball. Potters again took advantage of a keeping error this time Terry Bell converted but D and E hit back within a minute, Steven Gordon shooting in from 20 yards.

Iceland Teesside beat the ten men of Stockton Double Glazing 3-0. Stockton DG held out before Martin Johnson made the breakthrough. It was Johnson again who doubled Iceland's tally in the second half and James McGowan added their third.

Popeyes B lost to Intrepid Explorer 4-1. Intrepid went in front but poor defending allowed Lee Seaman the freedom of the park to level the scores. Missed chances proved costly for Popeyes and Chris Birks showed them how it was done by scoring from the halfway line. Birks went on to complete his hat-trick for Intrepid.

Middlesbrough Post Office's run in the North Riding Challenge Cup came to end following a 2-0 home defeat against St. Mary's College Old Boys in a closely contested semi-final.

Post Office failed to take a 15th-minute when Paul Newham missed from two yards and the College went in front five minutes later following a corner. A breakaway shortly before the interval led to St. Mary's increasing their lead and although Post Office battled hard to get back into the game in the second half, they found a resolute St. Mary's defence hard to break down.

The Stokesley League's other representative in the semis, Dormans Athletic, had their game with Staithes postponed.

Four goals from Craig Forsyth helped Teesside Athletic retain their place at the top with a convincing 6-2 win over Onyx while B and H King's Head kept in touch with a 3-1 win over the Woodmans Arms. Michael Jones scored the only goal of the first half when he went through one on one with the keeper to put the King's Head in front and 20 minutes into the second half, Brian Crawley increased their lead when his low drive nestled into the back of the net by the near post. A diving header that looped over the keeper brought the Woodmans back into the game with 15 minutes remaining but another run down the right wing by Crawley ended up with Sammy Johnson sidefooting the ball home to put the result beyond doubt.

Ennis Square and Tanfield Bros. met for the second time in a week and although there were fewer goals this time around the two sides managed once again to produce a very close game.

Following a goalless first half, Steve Gent gave Ennis the lead ten minutes into the second period when he was put through before hitting a fierce drive into the top corner.

Tanfield wasted no time getting back on level terms and with 15 minutes to go they broke through again to take the lead. Ennis, as ever, were not prepared to take things lying down and equalised when John Kirk headed home a Stephen Gent corner.

Minutes later, Ennis regained the lead when substitute Stephen Gent, junior, once again produced the match winner when he fired into the net from the edge of the area.

Redcar Coke Ovens maintained their recent league form to move into fourth place with a 3-1 win over Lingdale FC. This, despite going behind as early as the tenth minute when Lingdale scored from a free-kick. Anthony Gregory equalised on the half hour following a weaving run that left several defenders in his wake and mid way through the second half, Gary French popped up to put Coke Ovens in front.

Lingdale belied their lowly league position and kept battling away to try and retrieve something from the game but shortly before the whistle Anthony Gregory popped up once again to beat the offside trap before flicking the ball over the Lingdale keeper.

The competition for this season's top scorer is hotting up with very little to choose between the front runners. Up to and including all league games played in January, Brian Crawley leads the way with 20 goals while Teesside Athletic's Chris Ellis has scored 18. Also in contention are John Symon from Onyx with 15 goals to his name together with Anthony Gregory from Redcar Coke Ovens and Paul Round, junior, from Boosbeck who have both scored 14 goals.
