PUPILS are starting the day on a full stomach thanks to the generosity of a baker.
Warburtons' bakery at Newburn, near Newcastle, is giving free bread to school breakfast clubs including Downhill Primary School in Sunderland, and Lemington First School, Newcastle, where the club is called Breakfast Cafe.
Youngsters at the schools can tuck into toast each morning before their lessons start. Warburtons spokesman Michael Robson said: "We are supporting breakfast clubs across the region because we believe children should start the day with a nutritious, balanced meal.
