Worthington CIU Winter
Old Shildon established a three points lead at the top of the First Division after they only dropped one point at home to bottom team, Wheatley Hill B. Billy Goggins put the home side ahead with a 44 break, then Michael Pratt increased their lead, while Charlie Blake knocked in a 72 break to put them three ahead. Steve Cave then took the Hill's only point before Jossie Aldworth put in a 37 break to complete the victory.
Wheatley Hill A could have moved clear of Cockton Hill in second place with a good home win over Brandon. However the visitors, who have hit form recently only dropped one point when Jack Wright won. Brandon's points came from John Middleton with a 30 break, Owen Howarth, Brian Graham with a 32 break and John Hall. This leaves Wheatley Hill A sharing second place with Cockton Hill, six points clear of Brandon.
Newton Aycliffe needed a big home win over Spennymoor A to stave off their relegation worries, but they only managed to come through by the odd point. John Briddick and Michael Hewitt put the home side ahead with Eddie Rhodes reducing the arrears. Stuart Neil then put in a 31 break to clinch the home win but Ronnie Bateman helped The Moors relegation fears when he took the final frame.
Stanley Central pulled the visiting Shotton Palms down level with them and Spennymoor A, just three points ahead of Newton Aycliffe, after an odd point home win. Jim Dufton and Michael Vicary put Stanley ahead but Dave Swindle and Paul Hickman levelled. In the decider, Stanley's Harry Grimes beat Bobby Hall.
Fishburn A only managed to take one point from the visiting Witton Gilbert when Brian Quest won. Witton's points came from Ian Kerr, Willis Joynes, Ian Renwick and John Rooney junior.
Willington extended their lead at the top of the Second Division to 11 points after they took four points on their visit to Sherburn Village. Alan Greener took the only point for the home side, while Willington had wins from Colin Lomax, Jeremy Martin, Tom Parkin and Paul Atkinson with a 34 break.
Ferryhill moved into second place in the Second Division after beating the visiting Wingate in the decider. Geoff Howe put the visitors ahead but Glyn Toas and Adrian Jones with a 30 break won for Ferryhill. Pat McCoy squared the match but then Ferryhill's, Ian Redfearn beat Jim Alcock in the decider.
Hunwick A slipped two points behind Durham City in the relegation zone of the Second Division after they only scored one point on their trip to Langley Park. Robert Roche and Kevin Keers put the Park ahead then Alan Lawson took the visitors lone point, before Stephen Coates and Stephen Turnbull, with a 51 break, completed the victory.
Crowtrees edged clear of the relegation area when they beat fellow strugglers, Durham City by the odd point at home. Crowtrees took the first three points through Keith McLauchlan, Peter Laverick and Sonny Hann, while Brian Dunn and Michael Pratt replied for Durham.
The lone point scored by Stephen Hughes for Meadowfield on their visit to Belmont was enough to keep them ahead of Durham City in the table. Belmont's winners were Joe Coxon, Billy McGrath, Chris Morley and Steven Armstrong.
Spennymoor B took advantage of Sacriston's blank week to move four points clear at the top of the Third Division after they beat the visiting Billy Row by the odd point. Karl McCormack, Kurt McCormack and Wayne Parry won for the Moors with Ken Rider and Alan Hodgson replying for the Row.
Newhouse B moved three points behind Sacriston after they only dropped one point to the visiting Leeholme B, who had Ian Catterson as their point scorer. John O'Driscoll, Alan McCluskey, Dennis McCluskey and David Jackson scored for the home side.
Fishburn B were edged out of third place when they were taken to the decider at Tow Law A. George Whitelock and Alan Wilson put Fishburn ahead with Bill McCluskey and Charlie Donaghy levelling. In the decider Fishburn's Keith Binks put in his finest performance for a long time to beat Arthur Henderson.
West Auckland moved up the table after beating their hosts at Leeholme A by three points after Lawrence Jones took the only point for the home side. Andrew Dent, Kelvin Fletcher, Chris Kitch and David Geraty won for West.
Tow Law B were twice ahead at Hunwick B but eventually went down in the decider. Alan Spence put the Lawyers ahead with Ian Richardson levelling. Alex Ogilvie restored the visitors lead with Stan Bennett equalising. In the decider, Hunwick's captain, Barry Fleming beat John Wilson.

Cleveland League
IDivision One Redcar Lakes A, played at Redcar WMC B. The hosts got off to a poor start when Temke, took the first two games from Mick Smylie with scores of 63-35 and 65-22. Jason Robinson set about to stop the rot when winning the first frame of the night for the home team, beating Graham Marshall on the final black by 58-51. Marshall then won the next frame by 75-45. Ray Pearson then turned up the heat for the Lakes when taking the final two frames against Jock Dixon with scores of 57-41 and 58-26. The final result ended 5-1 in favour of the Lakes.
League leaders, Redcar WMC A showed their dominance on their travels they beat Marske WMC 6-0. Gary Beckett compiled an impressive 62 break, the highest recorded this week.
New Marske also chalked up a good away result when beating Grinkle Park 4-2.
Ennis against Lune Street, Lakes B versus Carlin How and Guisborough Cons. against Redcar Cons. were all tied at three frames each.

In Division Two, the best result of the week was recorded by Redcar Unionist A who were playing at Saltburn Cons B. Morris Mitford got off to a blistering start, taking both games from Dave Browning with scores of 72-11 and 49-38. McGee continued the away team's good form after taking the next two frames off Jeff Hudson with scores of 56-24 and 53-44. Derek Holmes completed the whitewash beating David Tait 44-35 and 45-15. The Unionists ended up outright winners beating the Cons. 6-0.
Leaders Saltburn Cons. A had better fortune, beating third place Guisborough TA 5-1. Carlin How, playing at home, beat Marske WMC by the same scoreline. Second placed team, Lakes C, chalked up yet another good performance on their travels when they beat Redcar Unionist B 5-1.

Chris Bainbridge put in a 61 break for Crook Surtees to put himself in line for the top break prize for the Second Division for the season. Playing at Crook Mill House the point scored by Chris took the match into a decider after Mark Nicholls, Stephen Heyes and John Winning had won for Mill with Paul Ford and Alan Tomlinson replying for the Surtees. In the deciding doubles, John Howe and Stephen Heyes snatched the winner for the Mill to take them six points clear of Crook Olde Horse Shoe B, while Jelly's Bar are a further 13 points adrift.
With only two weeks left, Crook Olde Horse Shoe A extended their lead at the top of the First Division to seven points over Crook Traveller's Rest B, who were stretched before coming away from Crook Spitfire Club with an odd point success. The Traveller's Rest B have a match in hand and are 16 points ahead of their nearest rivals, Crook Coach and Horses A.
