Four taekwondo experts from the region have qualified for the final stages of selection for the British team.
Katey Wallace and Kris Martin, both of Darlington, Kay Thompson (Gateshead) and Gareth Irvin (Spennymoor) were part of the Chungdokan Taekwondo team, who have clubs across the country.
Katey (lightweight), 20, and Kay (featherweight),19, now compete in Darlington during July, when the top four in each weight will compete for one place in the British senior squad while Kris (fin-weight), 15, Gareth (lightweight), 15, will fight in Doncaster later this month.
The four will be hoping to claim places on the British team for the Junior European Championships to be held in Greece or the senior world equivalent, which is held in Korea later this year.
Katey and Kris train at the Darlington Chungo Gynmasium based in Kendrew Street, Darlington.
