POLICE have renewed their appeal for witnesses to a biking accident that killed a teenager.
Officers trying to piece together the events that led to 16-year-old Gary Snowdon's death say they are disappointed at the response to their appeals for information.
Gary, of Ash Crescent, Seaham, County Durham, suffered multiples injuries when his trials motorbike collided with a friend's machine on land at Edith Street, Dawdon, on Monday night.
Police believe several youths may have been in the area, a popular spot for motorcycle riders, at the time.
PC Keith Butler, of the accident investigation unit, said he was disappointed at the response for appeals for witnesses and stressed that he and his colleagues were only trying to build a picture of what happened.
He urged witnesses to come forward, adding: "They will not be getting into trouble if they get in touch to tell us what they saw.
"We are simply trying to find out how this tragedy came about, not least for Gary's family who are desperate to know what happened.''
Gary, a pupil at Seaham Comprehensive School, was rushed to Sunderland Royal Hospital but died shortly after.
His 16-year-old friend, who has not been named, suffered a broken leg and is still in hospital where his condition is comfortable.
Anyone with information should call the unit on 0191-386 4929.
