Billingham Wanderers, after the previous week's cup win, travelled to Inn Place, Silksworth full of confidence, and won 5-1. They took a fifth minute lead when good work by Stan Hutchcraft let in former Hartlepool United midfielder Bob Scaife to fire the ball in off a post.
This was followed after ten minutes by another well-worked goal with Hutchcraft squaring the ball for Jerry Forrest to fire home and after 15 minutes Hutchcraft scored a good individual goal with a left-foot shot past a bemused home keeper.
The Teessiders played some of their best football of the season and got another goal through man of the match Eric Barrett just before the break. After half time the home side came back and pulled a goal back through Dave Jones but with ten minutes remaining Barrett scored with a great shot to round of a demolition of a dispirited home side.

In Division One the Pirates were mostly unlucky. They drew 2-2 away to Owton Manor. With only minutes remaining the Manor pushed all forward and Mottram equalised to make it 2-2. Very lucky for the Hartlepool side and most unfortunately for the Pirates.
Ferryhill Greyhound drew 0-0 with Division One leaders Gateshead Heworth Green away from home. It was a game which developed into a battle of two defences which cancelled each out. The pitch was very heavy and muddy and good football was out of the question and by the end of the game both sides were leg-weary. All the players deserved a medal for their efforts but Ferryhill's Ian McQuade was outstanding at centre back.
