LAND Rover is to cut up to 250 jobs at its Solihull plant in the West Midlands.

Voluntary redundancies are being sought following a change in shift patterns due to a shortfall in diesel engine supply.

The cutbacks will affect production of the Land Rover Freelander model and come into force in April.

A Land Rover spokeswoman said: "We are seeking between 150 and 250 voluntary redundancies. The Land Rover Freelander will move from three to two shifts at the start of April."

The cuts would not affect the production of the Land Rover Discovery, Range Rover or Defender models, she added
