WESTLIFE hunk Bryan McFadden was swamped by screaming teenage girls as he shopped in the region for baby clothes with his pregnant fiance.

The Irish pop heart-throb was surrounded by hundreds of admirers within minutes of entering Mothercare in Newcastle on Saturday.

The star was in the city centre the morning after the band performed the first of five concerts.

He and his fianc, ex-Atomic Kitten star Kerry Katona, were in the store looking for baby clothes and prams.

Bryan signed several autographs before being escorted out of a rear exit of the shop by security guards.

Shopper Alison McGarrigal said: "He was surrounded by screaming girls.

"Word spread like wildfire. They were all on their mobile phones ringing their friends and telling them to get there quick.

"He went in the lift and loads of girls tried to follow him. He was very good natured about it, though, and signed lots of autographs.

"Some of the autographs were on the backs of hands so I don't imagine those hands will ever be washed again.

"His girlfriend was pretty quiet. They were looking at prams and arguing about which one to buy, but they did buy some stuff in the end.
