AN EAST Durham town is preparing to mark the 21st Century by stopping the clock during 2001.
Schools, youth clubs, community organisations and a local authority have been working together to compile items for a time capsule painting a picture of life in Peterlee in the year 2001.
Many contributions have already been received and a selection has been included in a special container which is to be planted for posterity.
A special ceremony is being organised for later this month when the Mayor of Peterlee, Councillor Jimmy Alvey, will officiate.
