MORE than 30 Darlington Borough Council employees recently took a green pledge to become more environmentally aware in the workplace.
An awareness session was held at the council's Houndgate office by members of the green team.
Employees from a number of departments, including environmental health, trading standards, pollution control and markets, got together to pool ideas on how best they could address environmental issues at work.
By the end of the session they came up with a ten-point pledge to help save energy and resources.
The pledge includes a number of simple ideas such as switching off computer monitors when not in use, walking or cycling to work and using scrap paper for messages.
Practical steps have included installing loft insulation, reflective radiator panels and low-energy light bulbs
