A TEAM of volunteers will be working hard all weekend to create a garden for children at a Spennymoor nursery.
Members of Darlington Rotaract Club will be joined by youngsters from Ferryhill and Newton Aycliffe Interact Clubs to transform the grounds of Bessemer Park Nursery School.
Cash for the scheme has been raised from a Christmas fair last year, together with donations from local businesses.
Parents and friends will also help with the work, which will be taking place on Saturday, Sunday and Mon- day.
The garden was designed by Ferryhill Comprehensive School teacher Melanie Cormack, president of the Darlington Rotaract Club and co-ordinator for the Ferryhill Interact Club.
She said: "It's going to be quite a natural environment. Children will be able to follow stepping stones through the garden and arrive at various features."
The garden will include a willow cave, which the children will be able to walk through, a bird table and bird bath, and a large log which will be home to a number of creatures and beasties.
Melanie said: "We'll be starting from scratch on Saturday. We're getting a landscape gardener involved and a Ferryhill company is putting some fencing up.
"We're going to spend three days there and see how it goes, but I think it will probably be finished on Monday because we've got an awful lot of help.
