IT'S an ill wind, as they say, and Quakers' manager Gary Bennett is hoping Hull City's financial misfortunes blow him some good in time for tomorrow's game at Barnet.
The Tigers, managed by former Feethams heroes Brian Little and Kevan Smith, have not paid their players for five weeks and other clubs are moving in to snap them up.
Bennett has signed defender David Brightwell, who played more than 50 times for Manchester City, and wing back Steven Harper from Hull.
Certainly, Bennett needs an injection of new blood to shake up a team in real danger of crashing out of the Nationwide League.
It never rains, but it pours and Darlington slipped to 20th place - just one win clear of bottom club Exeter City - after heavy sleet and rain caused a late postponement of Saturday's home game with Shrewsbury Town. Spectators were already in the ground when the game was called off 25 minutes before kick-off.
The postponement leaves Quakers with a hectic schedule. After tomorrow's game at Barnet, Quakers entertain Cheltenham Town on Tuesday.
