ABANDONED cats are causing problems for animal lovers who have given them temporary homes.
Some cats in the care of the RSPCA's team of foster carers, in the Northallerton area of North Yorkshire, have been there for five months.
The charity's Vale of Mowbray cat rehoming officer, June Levey, said: "Some of these cats have had collars on or been spayed, and were obviously well-cared for.
"One two-year-old found in Osmotherley even has a pin in her right back leg that must have cost her owner dearly."
The charity is appealing for owners to come forward or for people to offer them homes.
"If cats go missing, owners should give it a day or two, and if it still hasn't returned contact the local vets, RSPCA or Blue Cross.
"Letting neighbours know and putting up notices in local shops also helps."
"We would also like to point out to people the benefits of micro-chipping so their cats can be quickly identified."
