CAMPAIGNERS fighting plans for a telephone mast will have to wait until councillors visit their village before a decision is made.
Wear Valley District Council postponed the outcome of the planning application by mobile phone company One2One so it could consider other sites in the area.
One2One wants to erect a 15-metre mast at Dales Farm, High Copthill, in Cowshill.
However, campaigners, who include retired solicitor Brian Shieldhouse and his wife Pauline, fear the mast could pose a health risk and blight the countryside.
Mr Shieldhouse, who attended Wednesday's council planning meeting, said there were more than 40 objectors to the scheme.
Mr Shieldhouse has said they will obtain legal advice if they lose their battle.
One2One does not believe the masts pose a health risk
