The Abbey School Walking Train route in Darlington will take on a new look with its stencilled signage, next week.
Today, Councillor Nick Wallis, Darlington Borough Council cabinet portfolio member for highways and transport, will be painting a Walking Train logo on the Walking Train routes to Abbey Schools.
Keith Atkinson, assistant director of public protection, with the council's development and environment department, and the children and parents of the two walking trains will be accompanying Coun Wallis.
He will be using a specially commissioned stencil to paint the Walking Train logo on critical points along the Walking Train's route, such as the starting points, exiting points and joining points. It will clearly mark the route for everyone.
Mr Atkinson said: "It will be good fun for the children to be involved in the stencilling but more importantly, it helps teach them about the importance of getting to and from school safely.
