THE RSPCA is investigating the dumping of a snake in a rubbish bag.
The 4ft brown and yellow ringed Californian king snake was found in a Darlington alley way by two 11-year-old boys last Saturday.
It had been beaten and left for dead in a passage between Roslyn Street and Leafield Road.
The snake was alive when the boys found it, but later died from its injuries.
It is thought to have been dumped at least a day before it was found.
Anyone who thinks they know who the snake might have belonged to, or who has any information, should contact the RSPCA on 08705 555999.
