Hathaway Auckland and District League
Oagain frozen pitches caused the postponement of all of last week's league games. The only two games to take place were both in the Darlington Charity Cup. Darlington RA were too strong for Thornaby Village and ran out 8-1 winners. They led 3-1 at half-time, with goals from Paul Adamson (2) and John Little. Both players completed their hat-tricks in the second-half and further goals came from Gary Hornsby and Graham Dodsworth. Brewer and Firkin paid the penalty for playing most of the game with ten men, when they lost 4-1 to Arriva. Lester Corbett was the Brewer and Firkin scorer. Paul Hill scored a hat-trick for Arriva who led 2-0 at half-time and their other goal came from Paul Hill.
Classic Trophies UK Middlesbrough Sunday League
Five of the league's six fixtures were completed, the only casualty being Lingdale against Jack and Jill.
Priory continue to press on to reach their league title with a 5-0 drubbing of D and E Locksmiths who never got to terms with the poor conditions. Anthony Roberts took his tally of goals to 26 for the season with a hat-trick while Mark Dinsdale and Stephen Atkins netting the other two. Potters Bar sit in second spot three points adrift but a game in hand. They beat Iceland 2-0 but it took them 80 minutes to find the net, John Driscoll scoring from the spot. Tony Knight made it safe for Potters with their second following heavy pressure from Iceland.
Haverton Hill came from behind to beat Stockton Double Glazing 4-2. Paul McCullouch put Haverton ahead but Stockton DG lead 2-1 at the break. McCulloch got his second, Arthur Black claimed number three and Carl Fishburn wrapped up the scoring. Popeyes B went down to Intrepid Explorer by the only goal scored by Peter Thomas but Popeyes A took a 13-2 hammering from Parklands. Hit man for Parklands was Micky Hopper with four, Peter Di Carlo grabbed three, John Anderson two while there was one each for Colin Smith, Paul Jeffers, Lee Fitzgerald and Peter Lester.
Wensleydale Creamery League
Flooded and frozen grounds caused the postponement of virtually allscheduled programme on Saturday, with only one of the eight league games completed.
In the only game to survive the conditions, Catterick Garrison entertained Bishopdale and ended a run of five successive defeats to take the points in a 5-3 victory.
The home side opened the scoring after ten minutes with a goal from Calum Finlayson, but the visitors promptly hit back with a header by Martin Catt to level the scores.
Just before the interval Bishopdale took the lead with a header by Andy Reaks, but ten minutes into the second half Garrison got on terms with an equaliser from Finlayson.
Midway through the half the home side regained the lead with a goal by Alan Woodridge and took a grip on the game as Karl Hawes netted twice to make it 5-2. Ten minutes from time Mike Hawkes scored a third for the visitors, but the home side held on comfortably to take the points. After climbing up into fourth position in the table at the turn of the year, Bishopdale have suffered a dramatic loss in form in recent games and have drawn two and lost three of their last five league outings.
Darlington and District League
Despite the valiant efforts of several clubs to fulfil their fixture the weather was once again the only winner on Saturday. The only game to get under way was the Darlington Charity Cup second round tie between Hartlepool Grays Saxon and Newton Aycliffe. Grays could only muster seven players at the kick-off but bolstered by the arrival of two rugby players they managed to hold Aycliffe at bay until Darren Griffiths put the visitors ahead after 15 minutes. Marc Addy added as second but after 30 minutes the referee deemed the conditions had worsened and abandoned the tie much to the annoyance of the Aycliffe players who realised things might be a little more difficult when the match is re-scheduled.
Hambleton Ales Combination
DIVISION One leaders Royal Oak increased their advantage at the top to nine points after a 3-1 win at Three Coopers Bedale.
Northallerton Police moved into second place after a 9-5 home victory over North Yorks Unison while Osmotherley Rangers returned to winning ways after two successive defeats. They won 3-1 at Kneeton Park to climb two places.
In Division Two, second-placed Topcliffe narrowed the gap at the top with their seventh successive victory, a 3-0 win at Catterick Village. In midtable, White Swan extended their recent unbeaten run to three games with a 4-1 home victory over Skipton BS and moved up a place. At the lower end of the table, Robert Thompsons Reserves recorded their second successive victory with a 5-0 home win over Oak Leaf, who have now gained only one point from their last four league outings. In Division Three, Ingleby Greenhow moved up into second place in the table after a 4-2 home victory over Sinderby. It was their fourth successive win and are only one point behind leaders Cowtons.
Nags Head United extended their recent unbeaten run to four outings with a 4-1 win at Hutton Rudby and moved up to fifth while Thirsk Town climbed two places after continuing their recent improved form with a 5-2 home victory over Vale of York.
In the North Riding Sunday Cup, Kildale suffered a 3-2 home defeat against Weatherhead Construction in the fourth round while Rountons' home game with White Rose was postponed.
North-East Christian Fellowship League
For the second week in a row the weather took its toll on all but two of the fixtures in the league; the two fixtures being the most southerly in the league. Stranton Saints Hartlepool entertained Bethshan Christian Centre, whose church is in the shadow of Newcastle's St. James' Park. Mark Thomas opened the scoring for Bethshan and in the second half they stretched their lead to 2-0 from David Longurst's right boot. Stranton went close on numerous occasions but could not get the finishing touch, so it was left to Paul Gribbon to wrap up the scoring giving Bethshan a 3-0 win and they move into third place.
In Division Two Wearside Community Church B played at Yarm Emmanuel. Wearside had only managed two wins out of 13 attempts. Yarm on the other hand had won three from 11 matches. So it was no surprise that on Yarm's home patch Tim Boyes fired Yarm into the lead. John Devlin extended the lead before half time and after the break, Yarm piled on the pressure with Ben Laing scoring a pair and man of the match David McQuillian added his name to the scoresheet as did James Kitchener as he wrapped up the scoring for Yarm. Wearside managed one goal from their man of the match Kevin Gardener as Yarm won 6-1.
