SCHOOLCHILDREN rolled out for a visit to a North-East factory yesterday.
The 24 nine and ten-year-olds from Redby Primary School, Fulwell Road, Sunderland - who included Georgia Elliott, above - visited the city's Rolls-Royce factory.
The pupils were taking part in a pioneering project to involve schools in engineering, and were given a problem to tackle during the coming weeks.
Headteacher Sarah Kitching said that the children had been working with apprentices from the factory, who had made a number of visits to the school.
She said: "The children were thrilled to have the chance to go to the factory, and they will benefit a lot from tackling such an interesting and difficult project with practical applications."
The project has been organised by the Engineering Employers' Federation, which has almost 300 member companies in the North-East.
