FIVE people were hurt when the car they were travelling in hit a tree.
The people, who included two women, suffered broken bones but none of the injuries is thought to be life-threatening.
The accident happened on the C67 Kelloe to Coxhoe road, near Coxhoe Hall, County Durham, at 11.30pm on Saturday.
A Durham police spokesman said that the Ford Escort driver appeared to have lost control on a left-hand bend and collided with a tree.
It is not thought that any other vehicle was involved.
Firefighters from Spennymoor freed some of the victims from the wreckage. They were taken to Dryburn Hospital, Durham, by ambulance. The road was closed for two-and-a-half hours.
