TWO kind-hearted friends have been nominated for recognition in the National Fundraiser of the Year Awards after raising £10,000 for a school.
Carolyn Goodfellow and Julie Walker of Darlington, received their nomination after raising the cash for Reid Street Primary School in the town.
The pair met as neighbours and have worked for the past four years to raise the money to help fund the school's first library. The money has been used to pay for decorating and buy new computers.
Carolyn and Julie saved a fundraising commission from selling goods through the Webb Ivory catalogue, organised school discos, fashion shows and car boot sales.
The National Fundraiser of the Year awards are sponsored by Webb Ivory Fundraising.
The event will be hosted by Liz Dawn, Coronation Street's Vera Duckworth, at the Midland Hotel in Manchester, on Saturday.
Carolyn and Julie will find out then whether they have won one of the top five fundraiser awards.
