COUNCIL tax payers in Darlington are being asked how they would like to make their payments.
Darlington Borough Council is considering alternative payment methods, including the use of Girobank, which could replace the payment system at the Town Hall.
That would enable people to pay their council tax at main or sub post offices anywhere in the country.
Other payment facilities currently available, such as direct debit or telephone payments using credit or debit cards, will continue to be provided.
From April 1, payments via the Internet will also be accepted.
The council is seeking the views of council tax or rent payers who pay in person at the Town Hall.
They will be asked to complete a questionnaire, which will be available in the payments hall at the Town Hall in the next two weeks.
