A VILLAGE'S woodland project has been given a boost due to the recycling efforts of a telephone directory firm.
People at Lanchester are planting Dora's Wood in honour of local 19th Century poetess and author Dora Greenwell.
The project is one of 12 schemes across the country that is sharing £50,000 given to the Woodland Trust by the Yellow Pages group.
The company made the donation because it has already succeeded in hitting its national target of recycling 40 per cent of all old directories by 2002.
Company workers, villagers and pupils from Lanchester All Saints and Lanchester Primary schools planted native species at Dora's Wood.
Company director Paul Fry said: "We'd like to say a big thanks to all who have recycled their Yellow Pages.
