VOLUNTEERS have worked hard to revamp the garden of Mind in Darlington as part of their Prince's Trust Volunteer Programme team challenge.
As well as resourcing materials and funds locally, the group was one of many organisations to take advantage of Darlington Borough Council's Free Trees Scheme.
The team worked over three weeks to plan and complete the work on the garden.
This project was chosen after staff from Mind responded to an advertisement asking people to come forward with a suitable challenge for the group. The project formed part of a 12-week personal development course undertaken by the Darlington-based team of 12, who were known as Team 59.
The young people, aged between 16 and 25, had to work together to plan, publicise and fund the scheme using local contacts wherever possible.
As well as receiving £50 of funding from Mind, the group raised a further £50 through a sponsored 100-mile trek on exercise machines and acquired materials from local businesses and the council
