TWO mothers have launched a Mary Poppins-style childcare business aimed at matching nannies with families.
Angela Brown and Anne Sutton, established lecturers in childcare at New College, Durham, have been prompted by a desire to help more families and young children.
After more than a year's work, and with the help of the Tyneside Economic Development Company, they also hope to take their skills into day nurseries around the region.
Mother-of-two Angela, 40, of East Boldon, said: "There has been widespread concern about the lack of vetting and training of childcare workers.
"Anne and I saw this as a real opportunity both to set up our own business and to use our skills to help some of the most vulnerable members of the community."
The firm, internannies, based at South Shields, will carefully match nannies and families.
