THE father of murder victim Julie Paterson, whose body parts were allegedly eaten, has condemned a website glorifying the exploits of her killer, David Harker.

Jim Paterson said the website, Cannibals Anonymous, uncovered by The Northern Echo, was "pure evil".

It includes a biography of David Harker, with other notorious cannibal killers, such as American Jeffrey Dalmer, and invites surfers to send "kill mails" with their comments.

Harker, from Darlington, is serving a life sentence in Wakefield Prison for the manslaughter of Julie, almost three years ago.

He was labelled the "Cannibal Killer" after claiming he had eaten parts of her body.

Last night, Jim Paterson said: "Whoever created this is no better than Harker. It is just pure evil. I don't forget about Julie - she is on my mind all the time. And just when I thought this whole thing had quietened down, this crops up."

Police carried out searches for parts of Julie's body which were never found.

Superintendent Barry Peart, of County Durham Police, who led the inquiry into Julie's death, said: "We are aware of this site's existence, which does absolutely no good and, most importantly, does not help Julie's family."

The website, which jokingly describes how cannibals "tried it, liked it and did it again", was condemned by the North of England Victims Association.

Spokesman David Heinz said: "This glorifies such acts, and you can bet that someone is making money from it."

Interest in cannibal activity has been heightened with the release of the film Hannibal, starring Anthony Hopkins.

Channel Four and Five have also screened programmes on the issue.
