NORTHUMBRIAN Water is splashing out to help create jobs on Tyneside.
The company has pledged £75,000 to the Working Capital Newcastle Employment Bond Scheme, which aims to create 1,000 jobs and help regenerate some of the city's most run-down areas. The scheme aims to raise £3m.
John Mowbray, the company's head of corporate affairs, said: "Initiatives which work towards improving living conditions and opportunities for those living in our community deserve our support."
The scheme will help fund the refurbishment of Bewick Court, a block of flats in the city centre.
Its chief executive, Jeremy Scutts, said: "We are absolutely delighted to have the support of Northumbrian Water, particularly as it is such a respected company in the region.''
Other backers include the Grainger Trust, bakers Greggs, Northern Recruitment and the Northern Rock Foundation.
