A QUIET village was disturbed by a car chase yesterday, as police pursued two people wanted for allegedly stealing petrol from a garage.
Up to six police cars were involved in the chase, which started when the pair drove away from a Sedgefield petrol station without paying for fuel.
As they followed the car north along the A167, police ambushed them at Hett, just south of Durham City. They briefly closed the road, and using a Stinger device to burst the car's tyres, before arresting the suspects.
The road was quickly re-opened following their capture near the Coach and Horses pub
