Great Ayton began brightly in their league game against visitors Anchor with 16-year-old Steven Pennock firing over the bar in the opening minute. Andrew Fishburn then did well to hold an Ayton corner under his crossbar. Anchor, who emerged 3-2 winners, got their game together and Stuart Readman, in goal for Ayton, did well to deny Mark Iseton who opened the scoring with a 25-yard strike which gave Readman no chance. Anchor were well on top and Readman saved from Owen Hill before Tony Hill strike his shot wide. In a rare Ayton attack, Colin Murray and Richard Hore combined well to set up Pennock but his shot was straight at Fishburn who misjudged a Graham Hall free-kick but managed to push the ball wide as Ayton were be kept at a distance. Lee Toogood produced a goal-saving tackle to deny Micky Bowmaker but the resulting corner from Tony Hill was deflected off a defender, past Readman to put Anchor two ahead. Ayton scored in the opening minutes of the second-half when a deep cross from James Burns was not cleared and Murray forced home the rebound. With ten minutes gone a long ball from Michael Moor caused Ayton's defence problems and as they stood appealing for offside Iseton calmly took the ball on and slotted past Readman. Ian Feeney had a good game at the back for Anchor while youngster Glen Grout was in complete control over Ayton dangerman Hore. With ten minutes remaining Feeney made a saving tackle at the expense of a corner and Milburn's ball was met by Scott to head home. Ayton pushed hard in the remaining minutes but Anchor stood firm and deservedly collected all three points.

Leaders Grangetown gained a 3-0 home win over Lealholm, Michael Meggison giving them a first-half lead. Meggison netted second and Grangetown's 100th league goal of the season in the second half with Graham Clark adding a third as the home side controlled the game from start to finish.

Grosmont held a two goal lead at the interval through John Libbey and Victor Hicks at home to Huntsman and went on to gain a 4-1 success. James Allen pulled a goal back early in the second half but Grosmont scored twice more through Trevor Leach, one from outside the area as Huntsman let themselves down as their discipline slipped and ended the match with nine men in a bad-tempered game.
