Measures have been agreed to try to ease resident parking problems in parts of Hartlepool.
Hartlepool Borough Council's south neighbourhood forum plans to spend almost £30,000 on extra parking bays in Pickering Grove and Selby Grove, on the town's Rossmere estate.
Because of a lack of space, cars often cross and park on grassed areas, which is causing damage.
Councillor Cath Hill, chairman of the forum, said: "We have taken the advice of the council's highways and transportation division, and the best way to tackle these problems is by removing some of the grassed areas to create additional parking bays."
The estimated cost of the scheme, which will need planning permission, is £9,900 for Pickering Grove, and £18,500 for Selby Grove.
Elsewhere, the forum has given the go-ahead for grass verges damaged by parked cars in Moffat Road and Kildale Road, Seaton Carew, and Callander Road, to be replaced with a road surface at a cost of £9,156.
Coun Hill said: "These verges are being constantly damaged by vehicles mounting the kerbs to park off the road."
