YOUNGSTERS in Guisborough are to get a new play area thanks to the parish council.
The play area at Butt Lane on the Whitby Avenue estate is the second to be funded by Guisborough Town Council.
The new playground, in association with Guisborough Play Development Forum, is due for completion on Friday, April 6.
It is for children under six and will feature traditional-style swings, slides and roundabouts. It will also have the latest safety surface.
The Whitby Avenue estate was chosen as the site in response to the concerns of residents that the existing facilities were run-down and underused.
The council's main project for the next four years is the development of the town's four play areas, at a cost of £10,000 a year.
So far, there has been a scheme for older children at the King George V playing fields and there are plans for another play area at the site of the former Kemplah Primary School
