New County North Durham Youth League
Chester-le-Street Waldridge Park progressed in the Edward Wanless Cup, defeating Stanley Sandhole 2-1 with goals by Mike Howey and Kenny Morrison. Lee Duffy replied for Sandhole.
In the U-16 Division A, Hebburn Clegwell had the upper hand on Stocksfield, winning 4-3 with goals by Craig Gardner (2), Stephen George and Glen McEwan. Scott Palmer, Nick McEwan and Jason Graham responded.
Usworth, in Division B, ended 6-3 in front of Blackfyne for whom Michael Brough bagged a brace while Grange Villa celebrated winning their first point in a 1-1 draw with Prudhoe. Andrew Blackwell scored for Grange Villa and John Gilmore gained the visitors goal.
Strikes by Carl Phillips (3), John Murray and John Stephenson enabled Haydon Bridge to beat Chopwell 5-3. Paul King, Richard Thompson and Joel Neesham scored for Chopwell.
Graham Ash (2) and Dean McIntyne were in target in Wardley's 3-0 victory at home to Sheriff Hill.
Felling will represent the North in the regional final of the Durham County Boys Clubs Five-a-side competition after defeating South Moor 3-0 with goals by Stephen Brown and Daniel Graham.
In the U-17 Division of the league, Chester-le-Street finished 4-2 ahead of Felling with goals by Craig Patterson (2), Darren Henderson and Dean Burn while for Felling, Lee Devlin and Michael Sutcliffe responded.
Craig Morgan and Darren Malpass were on target for Stanley Sandhole who defeated Lanchester 2-0 while Harton and Westoe won for the first time when they entertained Blackfyne. John Wightman (3) and Stephen Miller scored for the victors with Kris Ewart and Dean Lightfoot on the mark for Blackfyne.
In the Durham County U-18 Cup, South Shields progressed at Horden's expense when Peter Brown scored both goals in a 2-0 win.
But Consett went out, losing on penalties to Sunderland Humbledon and Plains Farm after the sides shared two goals following extra time.
Coxhoe Boys
A 4-0 midweek away win over Silksworth enabled the Under-12s to regain their place at the top of the Under-12 division in the Russell Foster Tyne and Wear Youth League, unbeaten in 12 matches, winning 10 of them.
Coxhoe, one goal ahead at the break, scored through Jamie Lawson (2) and Tom Orton (2).
Man of the match was Coxhoe keeper Jonathon Arnold who made a string of finve saves.
Lawson was in good form last Saturday, scoring four times in a 6-1 win at Whickham in the third round of the league cup and he earned the man of the match award.
Coxhoe, three up at half-time, netted other goals through Carl Sanderson and Lee Soppitt, having his best game of the season.
The Under-10 team lost 2-0 against Durham County Bees and Coxhoe man of the match was Shaun Knight. Geoffrey Cairns scored in the 3-1 defeat against Harraton Juniors.
A and C Kelly Gateshead Youth League
CONNELL Reed, Paul Graham and Dean Malpass all scored twice in Blackfyne's 7-1 victory at Stanley Sandhole in the U-11 Division. Goals by Kenny Hempsall (3) and Daniel McIntyne (2) featured in Redheugh's 8-1 success over Winlaton and Adam Ewart and Chris Burn both bagged a brace as Low Fell A ended 5-0 in front of Felling.
In the U-12 section, Felling were the biggest scorers of the day when they put nine past Witton Gilbert who replied once. Anthony Ross (4), Liam Henderson (3) and Mark Henry (2) were Felling's marksmen.
Daniel Carr steered Stanley Sandhole to a home 3-1 success over Winlaton when he scored twice and so too did Chris Dunn as Leam Rangers defeated Chopwell 5-0.
In the U-13 division, Stephenson (3), Henderson (2) and McFarlane (2) were all on target in Redheugh's 7-2 home win over Stocksfield.
Shaun Henderson and David Parker both scored twice when Consett defeated Felling 5-2 with the visitors' goals credited to Mark McKinley.
Shaun Best and Liam Bell were other players to score on two occasions in Blaydon's 6-2 victory at Ryton for whom John Rogers bagged a brace.
Shane Lightfoot and William Abbot steered Blackfyne to an 8-2 victory at home to Winlaton when the pair shared four goals and a couple of goals by Daniel High enabled Stanley Sandhole to end 3-1 in front of Cleveland Hall.
David McNestry rifled a hat-trick and Craig Boyd scored a couple of goals in Winlaton's 6-0 Under-14 defeat of Stanley Sandhole.
In the U-14 league cup, Blaydon easily accounted for Hebburn CA 7-2 when Owen Fox, Mark Reay and Shaun Lockey all scored twice.
John Storey was another player to bag a brace in Cleveland Hall's 5-0 win at Wylam while Chris Wilson scored all four goals as Leam Rangers saw off Redheugh's challenge by a 4-1 margin.
Consett also progressed to the next round, defeating Blackfyne 5-0 when Andrew Whitfield scored twice.
In the U-15 division, David Smith struck a hat-trick in Leam Rangers' 5-1 success at Crookhall while Paul Leighton notched a couple in Stanley Sandhole's 3-0 victory entertaining Wear Valley.
Tony Thirkell and Andrew Curry shared four goals in Redheugh's 6-2 victory at home to Prudhoe and a hat-trick by David Paylor enabled Spen Rovers to edge Haydon Bridge 4-3.
South Shields beat Swalwell 7-0, Dean Codling and Paul Farlow both scoring twice and Gary Andrews also hit the net on two occasions in Whickham Gibside's 4-0 victory at Wardley.
Crook Town Horizon
Glass Juniors
Crook Town Horizon Glass visited Whitburn Saints in the Russell Foster Tyne and Wear Youth League and suffered a 3-0 defeat although playing with renewed flair and determination which had been lacking in recent matches. They were unlucky not to go ahead when Stephen Richardson curled in a corner, which almost found the net but was eventually scrambled away.
Whitburn looked certain to go ahead after 15 minutes when Dominic Otun outpaced the Crook defence and rounded keeper Stuart Walker but Chris Lowes managed to get back and save the situation.
Whitburn scored after 27 minutes when a scramble in the Crook goalmouth saw the ball fall to Michael Stewart who was able to tap the ball over the line.
Crook again performed well at the start of the second half with Craig Cowan, Adam Reed, Chris Lowes and Darryl Reed showing up well. However, their luck was right out when, after 55 minutes, Stephen Hailes scored direct from a corner. Crook pushed forward but were unfortunate to be caught on the break five minutes from the end when Darryl Reed deflected John Graham's shot past his own keeper.
The man of the match award for Whitburn went to Michael Gibson, while Stuart walker and Chris Lowes shared the award for Crook. Tomorrow, Crook are away to Hebburn Reyrolles with a noon kick-off.
Northallerton Juniors
Two early goals from Chris Chapman put Northallerton Under-12s into an early lead, but Darlington Albion struck back with a well taken volley.
This was the spur Northallerton needed and they replied with a succession of well-worked goals from Matthew Hill, Daniel Baxter, Andy Lagan and Adam Hodkinson to make the final score 7-1.
In an Barker Free Cup quarter-final the Under-13s won 2-0 at Barnard Castle. Following a very even first-half an inspirational team talk saw Northallerton burst into life early in the second half.
Talon Ward was the key man for the away side, setting up the opening goal with an inch perfect through ball for Eddie Craven to convert.
Ward then went on to cap his man of the match performance with a brilliant solo goal securing a semi-final place for Northallerton.
The Under-15s failed to make it to the semi-finals of the League Cup, losing 5-2 at home to Barnard Castle.
Northallerton scored early through Danny Trenholme and had in not been for some heroic saves from the Barnard Castle keeper there would have been more than just a second goal from John Wood.
