VILLAGERS are to create a special heritage trail for the millennium after receiving a £5,500 grant for the project.
People living in Fryton, near Malton, were given the money by the Local Heritage Initiative, for an historical survey of the area, which will be used to map out the trail.
Project coordinator Paddy Morrow, pictured right, said the trail would feature mosaics depicting scenes of the village's past. "The idea for the mosaics came from a village meeting to discuss how to celebrate the millennium," he said.
"We initially talked about producing a scene depicting village life which quickly turned into the history and heritage of the village. We are working on a shift basis to get the mosaic designs completed in 12 weeks."
