Debutant Clint Marcelle helped his new side to a point this afternoon but even he will agree the Quakers could well have collected all three.
Boss Gary Bennett can't complain about his side's will to get forward but he, like many watching from the stands, will be frustrated with the amount of opportunities wasted in front of goal.
Macclesfield took an early lead after Andy Collett had brought John Askey down in the area and Kieron Durkan stepped up to confidently send Collett the wrong way.
Marcelle's first contribution of the afternoon was to earn his side a penalty. The Trinidad and Tobago international raced into the area and despite a rather theatrical tumble, the referee was convinced enough to point to the spot.
Another recent recruit, Mark Ford stepped up only to see his placed shot smothered by Lee Martin. However the visitors joy was short-lived as Mr Pearson ordered a retake.
Ford stepped up a second time and made no mistake, ramming home a powerful drive.
The Quakers should have clinched the game in the second-half but for the alertness of Martin and some sloppy finishing.
