A PENSIONER is the latest winner of The Northern Echo's free petrol for a year competition.
Herbert Underwood, of Bankfoot Grove, Crook, County Durham, has win the final prize of a year's free supply of petrol through the competition.
The 77-year-old has opted to take the cash equivalent to enjoy days out with wife Elizabeth and daughter Anne.
"I cannot describe how pleased I am. It's the first major thing I have won.
"I like a bit of a bet on the horses and enter other competitions but I've never won anything like this,'' he said.
Mr Underwood is one of three lucky winners who have collected and sent in tokens printed in the newspaper
