A Council is raising awareness of fostering at a series of information events across its borough, during March.
Last month, Gateshead Metropolitan Borough Council was caring for 300 children, either in foster homes or in residential care.
While the majority of these children will return home to the care of their parents, others may need permanent care, either through long-term fostering or adoption.
People who are single, in couples, from different ethnic backgrounds, or who are unemployed, are all suitable for fostering children.
The information meetings will be held, from 10am, at: Winlaton Community Centre, on Monday, March 19; Ryton Methodist Church Hall, on Wednesday, March 21; Whickham Community Centre, on Thursday, March 22 and in Leam Lane Methodist Church Hall, on Tuesday, March 27.
