DURHAM'S trustworthy tradesmen have won a pat on the back from consumer watchdogs.
The tradesmen have been rewarded for the honest way in which they show the public that they are not cowboys.
Trading standards officers from Durham County Council checked out 30 traders advertising in Yellow Pages claiming membership of trade associations as a hallmark of quality workmanship - and only one trader was found to be making a false claim.
Councillor Don Ross, from the council's cabinet, said: "It is in people's interests to use tradesmen who are members of trade associations, as they can sometimes turn to the association if they do have any complaints."
