Newcastle Eagles, fresh from their uni ball trophy semi-final triumph over Thames Valley Tigers on Saturday, returned home to thump Derby Storm in the BBL Championship on Sunday night.
Eagles soared to a 109-89 victory, bagging ten points without reply in the opening minutes to lead 14-5. An 11-3 burst early in the third period helped Eagles into a 65-47 lead.
Storm rallied to narrow the gap to 84-76 but Eagles were in no mood to release their grip on the game, scoring 13 of the last 15 points.
Brian Ehlers top scored for the Eagles on 28 followed by Tony Windless on 24 with 17 from Donnie Johnson.
Teesside Mohawks were in scintillating form at the weekend, sending Coventry and Solent home with 30-point thrashings.
The wins, along with Worthing's success over leaders Plymouth, has opened up the NBL Conference title race once again.
Mohawks beat Solent 92-66 and trounced Coventry 105-68.
Mohawks head coach Tony Hanson said: "We always felt that we could get back in it, but it needed something to happen. Plymouth's defeat puts us back in the running and we still have everything to play for."
Solent arrived with six players -- much to the annoyance of Mohawks' fans - and by the time star player Chris Harper arrived, after underestimating the travel time to Teesside, Mohawks held a 23-point lead.
Mohawks, in an immense second session, scored 31 points, completely demoralising the Southampton side and Hanson's decision to run his bench saved them from total humiliation.
The game against Coventry was a much better spectacle but Mohawks still won by a 37-points margin.
Even with so much time spent on the bench, Corey Jackson with 18 points was still the star of the show. The Miami-based forward notched an incredible triple - double figure points, double figure assists and double figure rebounds.
Costas Tellakis made the most of his extra on-court time to secure his best score of 15, including three of his side's 12 three-pointers. And Ousmane Camara got in on the act with a well-earned eight.
Mohawks 92 (Ralph Bucci 16, Corey Jackson 15, Dennis Ley 15), Solent 66 (Toby Tripalin 23).
Mohawks 105 (Bucci 25, Jackson 18, Tellakis 15), Coventry 68 (Marvin Harrison 24).
