THE region's latest television star was "christened" on air last night.
Blue Peter presenter Matt Baker, a farmer's son from Lanchester, County Durham, revealed the name of the BBC1 children show's new dog - she is to be called Meg.
The 11-week-old pup, bred at a farm in Wolsingham, Weardale, will star alongside Matt, after making her on-screen debut last week.
Meg will provide a focus for thousands of children across the country in the coming months as the programme shows the Border collie being trained to become a working sheep dog.
Meg seemed unfazed by the fuss last night, winning the hearts of viewers as she stared cutely around the studio.
