A FAMILY of four were recovering yesterday after a raid on their home by a four-strong gang - one posing as a policemen.
Last night, detectives were appealing for help from the public in tracking them down.
The family had been relaxing at home, in Hackness Road, Scawby, near Scarborough, when the attack happened on Sunday.
The male occupant answered the door at about 7.30pm, and was confronted by a man wearing a police uniform, complete to the peaked cap.
The occupant was pushed back into his house by the bogus officer, who was helped by at least three others, all wearing balaclava masks.
The man was handcuffed, and his wife and two children tied up, as the gang searched through their home.
They took jewellery and some foreign currency, and are believed to have left in a dark-coloured estate car.
Yesterday, the family declined to talk about their ordeal, but police appealed to the public for help. They particularly want to speak to anyone who may have seen the car in the area at the time of the raid.
Anyone who can help is asked to ring police on (01723) 509352 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
