A drama based on real-life tragedy has been taking the anti-drink drive message to young people in Darlington.
A professional theatre company brought the play Too Much Punch For Judy to Darlington Technical College yesterday.
The visit, which was arranged by Darlington Borough Council's road safety officer, Norma Shepherd, was aimed at young drivers, or people who were just about to start their driving career.
The script is based on transcripts of police accident interviews, following a crash in which a girl is killed by her sister through drink-driving.
Organisers hope that using theatre in this way will push home the message of the dangers of drink-driving.
The play will also be performed at Carmel Sixth Form College and Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, both in Darlington, tomorrow.
