SENIORS will be benefiting from the facilities at the Dolphin Centre in Darlington, with a range of activities to be held on Thursday mornings, to promote fitness.

The scheme, which was thought up by games and PE teacher Mark Butler, will allow pupils to play soccer, badminton, swimming and use the Pulse Suite facilities.

Boys from forms three, four and five will take advantage of the scheme, with a rota between the boys, allowing them a wide range of opportunities.

The scheme promotes fitness, as boys participate in rugby at school as well. Teamwork is also encouraged, an important value in life.

At the end of the school term, boys join their house teams and play in inter-house matches.

The games played are five-a-side football and badminton. The winning team receives trophies presented by headteacher Christopher Fenwick. He said: "It gives an excellent chance for pupils to fully participate in sports, and work as a team."

Games teacher Mr Butler, said: "After the Christmas period, it helps boys to lose the puddings they have eaten."
