Hawes United had their lead at the top cut to only two points on Saturday when they were held 1-1 draw at Spennithorne.
There was little between the two sides, until the leaders took the lead through Stuart Dinsdale eight minutes from time.
It looked enough to give them three points but Paul Orton equalised with a spot-kick three minutes later when Wayne Farrow was brought down in the area by Mark Alderson.
Leyburn closed on the leaders with a 6-1 home victory over Middleham Town. The home side dominated the early play and James Wilkinson and Richard Meehan put them 2-0 ahead.
Midway through the half Martin Allinson added a third and in the closing stages of the first-half Meehan and Alan Muir increased Leyburn's tally to five at the break. Middleham pulled a goal back with ten minutes remaining but Meehan completed his hat-trick four minutes from time to seal a convincing victory.
Richmond Mavericks extended their unbeaten run to nine games and consolidated their third place with a 3-2 home win over Bishopdale.
Clive Layfield gave them the lead after 20 minutes but Martin Catt equalised for the visitors ten minutes later. Mavericks regained the advantage through Ben Hodgson after 70 minutes but Bishopdale again got on terms with a header by Conrad Addinall.

Carperby continued their recent good form with an eighth successive league win, beating Catterick Garrison 3-2 in a game switched to their ground.
Tim Peacock put the home side in front after only nine minutes and although Garrison equalised midway through the half Steve Harrison restored Carperby's lead after 38 minutes.

Askrigg came from behind to extend their unbeaten run to nine games with a 2-1 home win over Reeth.
The visitors opened the scoring a minute before half-time when Terry Alderson's penalty went in off an upright. The home side levelled five minutes into the second-half with a James Peacock spot-kick.
Askrigg took the points with a bizarre own goal 15 minutes from time. A corner was headed off the line, only to hit Reeth's Danny Plumb and rebound into the net. Reeth are slowly slipping down the table after their fourth successive league defeat.
Swale Travaux notched their third win in their last four league outings when they visited Catterick Village and ended 5-1 victors.
After a goalless first half, they took the lead when a cross by Steve Bradley was turned into his own net by a home player after 55 minutes.
This signalled a burst of scoring by the visitors and two goals by Lee Kirk and another by Chris Lambert saw them race into a 4-0 lead.
John Lawrence reduced the deficit for Catterick with ten minutes left, but Jaycie Hall hit a fifth for Travaux after 85 minutes.
Richmond Buck ended a disappointing run of six successive defeats with a 3-0 victory at Hawes B. Mike White put them ahead after three minutes but it was not until midway through the second half that Adam Emson made it 2-0. Gavin Boulton netted a third for Buck ten minutes from time
