Darlington and District Riding Club's show jumping team went on to victory in a closely-fought competition at a recent Area 2 winter league series event, writes Mark Simpson.
Nineteen teams of four competed in the event, which was held at Holmside Park Arena.
The Darlington team - comprising Carol Makepeace with Risky Venture, Eammon McIntyre with O'Conner, Simon Platten with Molzmalone and Liz Simpson with Mistic Meg - matched four other teams with five clears over two rounds, leading to a nail-biting jump-off against the clock.
Only Darlington managed three clear rounds, beating Yarm Red and South Durham Red into second and third places respectively
