THE North-East Chamber of Commerce has added its support to beleaguered Corus workers and to regeneration plans for Teesside.
The chamber, which has 5,000 members, said education and training for the young was key to regenerating the area.
President Nigel Sherlock said: "Corus has made some management decisions that the chamber can't affect, but it does affect the economic strategy for the region.
"We have to plan to see how the situation can be dealt with and turned around, in terms of resources available."
Peter Penn-Milton, the new Tees Valley area manager for the chamber, said the Corus issue had been made central to his post.
"We need to make sure that they know we are in a position to help in any way that we can," he said
