Hathaway Auckland and District League
Black and Decker moved up the table after winning the Spennymoor derby 3-2 against Quinns Inn. They led 2-0 at half-time with goals from Michael Quinn and Lee Thistlewaite. Just after half-time Martin Longthorne pulled a goal back for Quinns Inn, only for Michael Hodgson to increase Black and Decker's lead with Quinns' Longthorne scoring his second near the end. Witton Park beat Glaxo 5-0 with goals from Ashley Wilson (3) and Anthony Weir (2). In the League Challenge Cup, DSRM and Coxhoe Athletic drew 4-4 after extra time. Coxhoe led 2-1 at half-time with goals from David Hutchinson and Phil Lawson. Steve Sinclair replied for DSRM and another Sinclair goal took the game into extra time. Don Hutchinson then made it 3-2 to Coxhoe with Sinclair completing his hat-trick. For the first time in the match DSRM took the lead through Tommy Kelly with Gary O'Hara earning Coxhoe a replay.
In the Durham Trophy semi-finals both Brandon Station and Darlington RA were beaten 2-1 in close games. RA lost 2-1 away to Ryton. Paul Adamson scored the RA goal. Station lost 2-1 to holders Winlaton Hallgarth, Paul Webster scoring for Station. In the Weardale Cup replay, Shildon Railway beat holders Cockfield 5-1. They led 2-0 at half-time, with Paul Jenkins and Jon Myers goals. In the second-half they increased the lead to 5-0, courtesy of Darren Foster, Michael Boddy and an own goal. Cockfield's Kevin Young scored a late consolation. In the Sacriston Aged Miners Cup quarter final, Roddymoor beat Black and Decker 4-0, with goals from Gavin Lonsdale, Mark Foster, Carl Jones and David Neil.
Darlington and District League
THE only league game played was the derby at Abbey Road between Hole In The Wall and DGSOB. The sides were evenly matched but Old Boys had the advantage at the interval and led 2-1.
However, Wall proved the better finishers in the second-half and run out 6-4 winners. Andrew Rustico (2), Mick Laws, Malcolm and Daniel Leafe and Rob Meite scored for Wall. Stuart Alderson (2), David Challis and Jimmy Morris replied.
At the fourth attempt, RA Social and Archdeacon finally played their first round League Challenge Cup tie. Peter Gormley, Steven Boyle, Andrew Wetheral, and substitutes Elliott McCabe and Andrew Wedgewood to take the tie 7-1. In a close encounter at Neasham Road a goal in each half from Duane Beagle gave Cleveland Bridge a 2-1 win at home to Post Boy, Paul Latcham replied in the second half. Shuttle and Loom dominated the first-half in their second round tie against Spraire and playing some very attractive football led 3-0 at the interval. Spraire were revitalised in the second-half but fell behind to a hotly-disputed Paul Soderman strike. Spraire, however, kept plugging away and were rewarded when Gavin Rose pulled one back after a long spell of pressure. Soderman, Kevin Baines, and Gary Boyle were Shuttle's first-half marksmen. Aaron Radstock put Speedy Hire ahead after 20 minutes of their tie against Newton Aycliffe. However, Marc Addy equalised for the visitors five minutes from time to take the tie into extra time. Newton Aycliffe then found their shooting boots and raced into a three-goal lead with goals from Morgan Fielding, Darren Griffiths and James Miller. Graham Weir pulled one back but Marc Addy with his second restored the three-goal lead to leave Aycliffe the visitors by 5-2. In the Invitation Trophy, Chilton Seniors had a walkover against DSRM SC who were unable to raise a team and East End WMC had an emphatic 8-2 victory against Rothmans. Steven Johnson (5), one a penalty, John Banks (2) and Mark Maddison were the clubmen's marksmen. Killinghall Arms dominated the first-half of their tie against Cricketers Hotel and were value for more than a one-good lead at the interval having struck the woodwork three times, Neil Matthews their scorer. Killie continued to dominated and increased their lead when Andy Roberts scored twice to make the game safe. Cricketers pulled one back after stand-in keeper Mark Churchman, saved David Lewis's spot kick only for Lewis to tuck away the rebound
